Hold the press, my sister finally came to visit me! I almost want to say that pigs are flying. I’ve been badgering her for months to come visit me instead of me always driving up to see her on the weekends. She really only came to get soap making supplies from Saraga, but I’ll take what I can get. Hopefully she will keep making soap so she can have more excuses to get down to Bloomington and visit!
After ransacking Saraga for all kinds of herbs and oils, we couldn’t resist a stop for some food. Bloomington is spoiled with choice for diverse restaurants! We both hadn’t had Indian food in forever so we popped into Taste of India. To be honest, Taste of India isn’t my favorite. The first time I ate there was years ago and I got sick afterwards. I wasn’t exactly in a hurry to go back but I did end up eating there again a few months after that first time and guess what? Yup, I got sick again. 🙁
I heard they were under new management last year so I decided to give it another go. It was pretty crowded which is a good sign right? The food came out pretty fast and my favorite mango lassi tasted great. Cierra got chai and something was off because it made her sick to her stomach. Overall though, the food was alright! I don’t know if it’s because it’s a college town, but they nickel and dime you for all kinds of stuff here. It ended up being pretty pricy compared to similar restaurants in Indianapolis that I’ve been to.
It was FREEZING outside! The weather really pulled one on us with those warm temperatures all the way through Christmas… it really had us all thinking that we would somehow skip winter with all of the cold and snow. We’ve been in for a reality check since January started though! We were walking to the restaurant for just three minutes and my hands were so dry from how cold it was. We were really happy to get inside of Taste of India!
I guess the winter scenery makes up for some of the cold though. Downtown Bloomington is beautiful! I popped out of my car for a few minutes to take a few photos of the lights but couldn’t really enjoy them that long because my hands were frozen. I love to pass by them when I’m driving downtown though. 🙂
