Pizza Hut Japan. Yes, I did say I wouldn’t eat food here that wasn’t Japanese! Especially American food chains… but I couldn’t help myself! I had to get my pizza fix, so I made myself a deal. I could only buy something that was uniquely Japanese… something that I couldn’t get back home. And so it was! ๐
Finding a pizza to fit my requirements at Pizza Hut Japan wasn’t hard. They actually have a HUGE menu to choose from with a lot of unique options. After considering all of my options, I settled on the Seafood Mix pizza. I love seafood, so this was right up my alley!
Pizza Hut Japan is really expensive, with a large pizza priced from thirty to forty dollars! I don’t know about you… but that is a lot! Their sizes are also smaller than what we are used to in the United States… so a large is more like a medium. I don’t have that kind of money. Luckily, Pizza Hut Japan runs an AMAZING take out special on Saturdays in my town for 50% off select pizzas. Oh yeah, I was sold. For science, right? ๐
I believe that Pizza Hut Japan runs this special for all of their stores in Japan, but I can’t be sure. Usually, you can find a board inside of the store with a list of the pizzas included in this deal on the days when you can redeem the discount. Different cities may have different days when they offer the deal. At first, I used to ride my bike past their store occasionally and figured out what days the store near me offered the deal by looking out for that board.
Long story short, the pizza was delicious! It was really unique. Instead of a red or white sauce, the “sauce” was a tuna and mayonnaise mixture, which I wasn’t expecting. Shrimp, squid, onion and broccoli were the toppings. I don’t really like squid because it tends to be chewy, but this squid was perfect! Not chewy at all.
Totally worth the money, in my opinion. You can’t get anything like this back in the United States. I love that restaurants give discounts for takeout, that is the best idea ever. I wish more restaurants did that in the US.
