My Zojirushi Mini Bento in Coral Pink

My time in Japan has come to an end. I thought a lot in my last days about what souvenir I would bring home for myself. Since I had stuck strictly to my budget, I was feeling good about splurging a little on myself at the end. Everything in Japan was so cute that I wanted it all! This made narrowing down my choices a little difficult. 🙁

After a lot of thought and a lot of pacing inside of LOFT, I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a nice bento box set. I had seen bento sets at Daiso for around $5, but they were made of cheap material and didn’t have the best selection. My coworkers recommended LOFT as a good choice for picking out a fancier bento. Since I have a love affair with LOFT, I figured it was a good choice. Their prices were high, but the quality was also high! I swallowed it down and got to searching through the humongous section of bento items available for purchase. When I say the section was humongous, I mean it! Sooo many options. There were bento sets, individual pieces, bento bowls, cute utensils and even matching bands to hold multi-level bentos in place! It was overwhelming, and I wanted them all.

I decided after a lot of deliberation to get the Zojirushi Mini Bento in Coral Pink. I knew Zojirushi was a great brand (their rice cookers are top notch!) and it was a pretty pink color. 🙂 I decided to buy a set instead of pieces individually because there were just too many choices and it was more expensive that way. Even with the sets there were rows and rows of options. I must have stood in LOFT for at least two hours being indecisive and second guessing if I wanted to spend that much money on a bento set. I rationalized that I could use it while teaching since I take my lunch to school everyday. I just ran with it before I changed my mind!

I’m really happy with my Zojirushi Mini Bento in Coral Pink. The set is really sturdy and cute at the same time. It fits just enough food for a light lunch, so it is a little small. It works for me though because I have a light lunch at school and space it out with snacks during the day. This definitely wouldn’t work for the evening though! It set me back around $40. Yes, that was the average price for a bento set there. I’m in shock with you. I was prepared though! 😉

I’ve been getting good use of it, and it’s a reminder of my time in Japan. These pictures were taken in my apartment there – I miss that gorgeous lighting that used to come through my balcony windows! I always got great pictures there.
