I used to think morning people were absolute freaks. How could they get up that early? It sounded like hell and for someone who sleeps in every chance I can get, I couldn’t imagine forcing myself out of bed at any other time than the last possible minute. I was really committed, I have to say. When I was in college, I actually chose the dorm across from the School of Education just so I could roll out of bed five minutes before class and still be on time. If that isn’t commitment, I don’t know what is. 😀
Then one day it all changed. I had taken a long nap during the day and ended up waking up naturally about an hour earlier than I needed to be up. I made myself a good breakfast, put a pot of coffee on and had a lazy start to my day. Except lazy in a good way this time! I read a few pages in a book I was reading, had a slow breakfast and took my time getting ready to go. IT FELT AMAZING. I had finally figured out why morning people did what they do. It feels great to take your time in the morning instead of rushing out of the door half asleep.
Since then, I’m a believer. I get up early and I love it! In fact, since I started blogging my morning ritual has become a very important part of making myself successful. Since my day starts out so relaxed, my entire day is affected in a good way! The first and most important thing that I do to start my morning is to brew a pot of coffee. I love flavored coffees myself, like the McCafé Hazelnut ground coffee. I can smell the aroma now, the smell of the start of a good morning and day! It’s made with 100% Arabica Beans and harvested from the rich soils and mountainous regions of the foremost coffee-growing areas of the world. Sounds fancy, right? And I have to say, the taste doesn’t disappoint. It has a really nice hazelnut flavor that hits your tastebuds right away. It’s smooth and totally hits the spot.
I usually keep it simple with a latte, but if I’m really feeling fancy I will top it with some cool whip and a few chocolate chips. Today, I got super fancy with butterscotch chips. 😉
With a satisfying cup of McCafé hazelnut coffee in my tummy I’m ready to get stuff done! This is where I get tons of my blog work done, specifically commenting on other blogs and responding to comments on my posts. I don’t feel rushed and I get to read creative posts from other bloggers which gets me pumped up and excited to keep blogging. There are so many cool people in the blogosphere doing amazing things. It’s really inspiration and pushes me to think outside of the box and bring something to my own blog that would make others love to read it!
One of my goals for last year was to make sure that I got a good breakfast every morning and being up earlier definitely helped that happen! I used to not be able to eat or drink anything in the morning because it upset my stomach, but it turns out that was just because I was not giving myself enough time to wake up before basically scarfing down whatever I could find in the mornings while running to class or work. It’s much better to eat slowly after you have spent some time cooking in the mornings. 🙂
I make sure that I have breakfast items ready and that I don’t run out of my McCafé coffee of course. I’m thinking next time I’ll try the French Vanilla. They have eight flavors that you can buy at Walmart and if you use coffee pods, they also have them too!
I couldn’t be happier with my mornings now. If only I had seen the light sooner. 😀
