Today I’m taking you to Le Saigon, a tiny Vietnamese restaurant specializing in pho near Itaewon. I’ve actually never had pho back in the states because there wasn’t a Vietnamese restaurant near me. My Korean friend is a huge fan though, so she recommended that we try an awesome place in Yeouido that blew my mind! It’s such a warm dish for the winter. I was craving some pho, so I thought I would try out a Vietnamese restaurant nearer to my apartment in hopes that it would be as great as the one I had before!
The restaurant is really small and cozy. Seating is very limited, but it wasn’t busy at all when we went so we had the place to ourselves for most of our visit. Unintentionally romantic? 😉
I decided to get the set menu that came with two spring rolls and a regular bowl of pho. My husband decided to get the large bowl since he was really hungry and boy… was that a mistake! I wish the waitress would have warned us about the portion size because the bowls of pho that you get are HUGE. Even the regular bowl that I got was too much for me. We ended up wishing that we had just gotten one large bowl to share between the both of us.
The price is really good for what you get, especially compared to the one that I had in Yeouido. I’ll have to go back and post about that later. It’s very affordable, and you get a lot of food. My set menu was only 10,000 won! The taste wasn’t that bad either, although I wasn’t a fan of the sauces. The spring rolls in particular were extremely bland and no amount of peanut sauce could save it for me. The pho was yummy, and the meats were tender. My hubby thought the broth had too many bean sprouts though.
Value wise, Le Saigon is definitely the way to go if you want your pho fix in Seoul. It won’t be the best pho that you’ve ever had in your life, but it does hit the spot! I can’t wait to get some pho in my belly next time! 😀
How to get there:
♥Take the subway to Noksapyeong Station (Brown Line 6) and walk straight out of exit 2.
♥Walk straight until you seen an underpass (almost to the stoplight).
♥Cross over to the other side of the road and Le Saigon will be on your right!
