Three Ways to Spice Up Vanilla Ice Cream

It’s hot outside and you know what that means! Time to bust out some ice cream. When I was younger, I was a huge fan of the novelty flavors and for awhile there I was only eating cookie dough ice cream. As I’ve gotten older, my taste has changed. You will most likely see me buying a carton of plain ol’ vanilla ice cream these days. Some people might think vanilla is a boring flavor, and I have to admit I used to be that way too! But vanilla is actually the most versatile flavor, and with a little creativity it can become any flavor you want it to be!

Vanilla is always my base flavor. On days where I just want something simple, it’s enough. When I want to shake it up, I grab whatever I can find in my kitchen to spice up my vanilla ice cream. 🙂

While I was grocery shopping at Walmart, I saw a sign for a Blue Bunny demo for their vanilla ice cream and fresh berries. It sounded like something that I would do! 😉 I couldn’t stay very long, but it did get my creative juices flowing for what kind of mix-ins I would put in my vanilla ice cream!

I decided to put a spin on vanilla ice cream with fresh berries. I’m a huge fan of strawberry shortcake and for me personally it’s a big sign of summer arriving! Why not make strawberry shortcake ice cream? Just mix some strawberries with a little bit of sugar, let it sit and mix it in with a few chunks of cake. 🙂

Another huge favorite of mine is cinnamon raisin. I usually put this on a bagel for breakfast but it’s equally as delicious with vanilla ice cream! Super simple. I’ve been crazy for anything involving cinnamon lately… I bet a chopped up snickerdoodle cookie would be a great topping too! 😀

If you are a huge fan of peanut butter like I am… you have to try mixing peanut butter and bananas into your ice cream. Peanut butter is such a huge comfort food to me, so pairing it with ice cream is almost the ultimate comfort food!

Q: Which one of these looks the most delicious? Do you spice up your vanilla ice cream at home too?

Let me know how you like to eat your ice cream. I’d love to hear about it! 😀 If you are looking for more ice cream ideas, check out Blue Bunny’s social hub. If you’re heading to Walmart soon, be sure to check out the Blue Bunny Premium Vanilla sandwiches and Wet Ones demo happening June 4-7 for some free samples. 😀
