TREAT YO SELF. Life can be overwhelming. I know for me it is, especially as the end of the semester approaches and papers that have been looming in the distance are coming closer. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the busy busy busy that we all have going on in our lives. The weather has been so cold so if you’re anything like me, you’ve been cooped up for far too long. Between busyness and a lack of getting outside and enjoying some Vitamin D, my mood takes a huge downturn. Seasonal depression, anyone?
When the weather starts warming up, I can’t wait to get out and live my best life. These are just some of the ways that I like to boost my mood.
Take a Break at Your Favorite Cafe
Warmer weather means that the cafes start busting out their outdoor seating! I love to grab an iced coffee (finally warm enough for the iced drinks, yay!) and just relax outside with a good book. There is nothing better!
Give A Stranger a Compliment
Isn’t it crazy how when the weather warms up it seems like the city explodes with activity? We’ve all been cooped up inside for what seems like forever so when the sun comes out it’s time to get active! Everyone is in a good mood, so why not give a stranger a compliment while you are out and about enjoying yourself? I personally find that when I give a stranger a compliment I feel just as good as the person receiving! When I get a compliment myself it just makes my day. 🙂
Try a Yoga Class
While you are feeling good about the weather why not try out a yoga class? Improve your mood even farther and let any stress/anxiety you are feeling drift away. Then go and enjoy the rest of your day with a little more mindfulness. Life can be overwhelming so taking time to focus and gently exercise my body really does wonders for my overall mood. There is nothing better than coming out of a yoga class completely relaxed!
Pick Up Some Flowers
Why not pick up some flowers to brighten up your room just because? Or just pick some of the wildflowers that seem to be popping up like weeds in the grass. I started doing this myself when my preschoolers would rejoice upon seeing the tiny flowers and eagerly pick them to show me. Slow down and take joy in the little things.
Pack A Picnic Lunch
Not too hot, not too cold… sounds like picnic weather to me! Find a green spot, pack a lunch and some snacks and enjoy. I found a cute little basket at my local Goodwill for under $3 that I foresee many afternoons lounging on a blanket outside with it stuffed full of goodies! Just enjoy the sun, read a book, picnic with friends… the world is your oyster!
Read a Good Book
Finally… a good book. 😉 A book fits into any of these scenarios. Pick up a new read or re-read one of your favorites. The important thing is taking time to relax and enjoy yourself.
Grab Brunch With Your Friends
Brunch is always a win, but it is definitely a win when you can brunch outside in warm weather. Grab some friends and pick your favorite brunch spot. Good food, good friends, fabulous weather… who wouldn’t want that? 😉
These are just some of the ways that I like to treat myself in the Spring. The weather is too nice to pass up, so why not de-stress by enjoying it a little? Get outside, do something nice for yourself (or someone else!) and enjoy life just a little more. Happy spring! 😉
