I’m officially an Expo addict. Summer vacation is literally right around the corner so I was really excited to attend the Seoul World Travel Fair at the COEX. I’m such a late planner and I had been putting off deciding where I wanted to go for my next break so I was hoping this would push me along a little bit. Planning for a vacation is so stressful… I feel like there are too many good options and I can’t pick just one.
There were so many booths at this Expo and it was really fun! Some countries went all out with their booths, performances and freebies while others were just… meh. I was commenting to my friend that some of the booths just looked downright sad. Nothing enticing to lure people in. Some other countries like Thailand, Taiwan and Turkey had amazing booth visuals. I think they were the three most popular there with Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines trailing not far behind. The Japan section was crazy and had an entire section of booths dedicated to different cities in Japan.
As usual, quite a few freebies to be had. I was actually a little sad because it was much harder to get most of the freebies unless you were fluent Korean. There were a lot of catches to get something like signing up for a newsletter or playing a game, etc. Others were much easier to navigate. Thailand was giving out free sweets and crazily enough… Thai massages! You better believe the line was long for that one. The Turkey booth was giving out free dondurma ice cream and Turkish tea which was amazing! You could even get your henna done at the India booth.
It was really fun to look around, regardless of the language barrier. Almost everything was provided in Korean so we mostly checked out the style of the booths and the performances that the countries were providing. And in the end… I did solidify my choice for summer vacation! I’m really excited to be heading to Malaysia soon. The Malaysia booth at KOTFA was so fun! They were giving away free Teh Tarik, Malaysia’s milk tea and it. was. amazeballs. I wish I could have went back for a jug or something! Totally addicting. The guy kept pouring it back and forth to make it frothy and he was doing all sorts of tricks. The crowd was eating it up and he really loved getting his picture taken haha. Look at that smile!
