  1. In a bowl, pour the boiling water over the dates and let sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350F.
  3. In a blender, add the dates (including the water), butter and sugar. Blend until smooth. Add the eggs and pulse until incorporated.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. Add the date mixture from the blender until fully incorporated.
  5. Pour into an 8×8 pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 50 minutes or until firm to the touch.

*You can reserve some of the dates to mix in at the end if you like chunks in your cake.
