I shot today’s pictures at my very first Ramadan buffet. I thought spending Ramadan in Egypt would be amazing, but it turns out not having anything to do all day is a real bummer. The days are hot and the fasting sucks all of the energy out of you. There is one upside though… almost all of the restaurants have daily Ramadan specials. I always love a smorgasbord of food but it is even more enticing when you are fasting. After roaming around Carrefour for hours the time for eating finally came around and man what a change! My friend and I made a reservation with Doppio Zero and we were dying to eat. Everyone was bonded with the same desire to smash!
They served us our choice of drink at the beginning, apricot juice or kharoub a typical Ramadan drink. The salad and appetizer bars were amazing and my favorite part. We ordered from a small menu of main courses and dessert and these were delivered to our table. We went overboard on the buffet selections so I was super stuffed by the time the main dish came out. I had grilled halloumi because my love for cheese knows no bounds. 😉 They had a huge selection of fresh bread too! Service was crazy with so many people eating at one time. The sad part was that we were not allowed to take home any food. We were seriously hurting trying to finish everything and not waste.
Now that Ramadan is over, I miss these set menus. Thankfully there is much more to explore on the foodie scene in Alexandria!
