Well, it’s no longer a secret any longer! I’m finally going to share my little secret pregnancy diary. π
Hello secret pregnancy update! I’m choosing to keep my pregnancy under wraps for now, but I want to remember this moments that seem to be going more quickly every passing day. I’m sure I’ll probably feel that pregnancy is going too slowly once I’m well into my third trimester and ready for baby to be here already. As for now, I’m enjoying every minute of my pregnancy.
How Do I Feel?
To be honest, I had a super easy first trimester.Β I’ve been so, so, SO lucky to have had so little symptoms of pregnancy. My first trimester was a breeze, I don’t think I would have known I was pregnant if I hadn’t already had it confirmed by the doctor. Going into the second trimester, I got a little more miserable haha. Nothing too crazy. I’m mostly tired all of the time. Overall though, feeling good!
Body Changes
Apparently my eyes morphed and my left eye has an astigmatism instead of the right. Freaky, but they say it is normal in pregnancy. My hair has been growing like crazy! My stomach has officially become big enough and bump like that people have started asking me if I’m pregnant if they don’t know. When I eat or drink, it is huge! My skin went rogue and goes between super dry and super oily all of the time. I rarely have issues with my skin so this is new territory for me. It turns out pregnancy makes my skin all crazy, which is frustrating. My already small bladder has decreased it’s tolerance even further haha. Everywhere I go now I stalk out where the bathrooms are. Pregnancy life!
Medical Stuff
Ever since I found out I’ve been floating between extreme gratitude and fear. Being pregnant is so scary! There are so many unknowns and after a scary bleeding episode at 7 weeks, I’ve been walking on eggshells. Thankfully at my second trimester appointment several weeks ago the doctor said that the SCH which caused the bleeding had resolved. Talk about a sigh of relief! Since then I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my second trimester. π
Exercise & Clothing
Exercise was tough after we found the SCH early on. I was on modified bed rest for quite awhile, but now that it has resolved I’ve been going out to walk outside as much as I can. I get winded so easily! I’ve been thinking of taking some exercise classes at the pool, but I’m not so sure I fit in my bathing suit anymore. π I’m solidly in maternity pants now and sticking with my shirts since I tend to wear them loosely anyways. Maternity jeans were a game changer!
Gender
I got my wish… little one is a girl! I was so convinced that she was going to be a boy I hadn’t even thought of any girl names. We were sitting in the waiting room after finding out and discussing possible names and we just knew that Hannah would be her name. I love it because in Arabic it means happiness. For us, she is the biggest happiness that has ever happened in our lives. We have been waiting for her so long so it seems so right that her name embodies this huge happiness! Of course, Hannah is a great name in English too. In Japanese it means flower which is also beautiful. The name Hannah is in many languages with beautiful meanings. The perfect name for our little one! We can’t wait to meet her.
Nursery
Unfortunately we are moving just a month before Hannah’s due date so I haven’t really been doing anything for the nursery yet. I’ve been on the prowl for used cribs and bassinets. We did buy a secondhand rocking chair after some major sleuthing on the Facebook marketplace. We love it! That’s really all we have planned so far. I have started stockpiling board books… I’ve been waiting so long to share my love of reading with my own children! Hopefully Hannah will love reading and have many beautiful memories reading with her parents.
The Good Things
Those sweet baby kicks! I started feeling flutters sometime in the 16th week and it was wild. Once I hit 22 weeks she was consistently kicking me every day and man this girl is strong! She is so active when I’m going to bed and sometimes I’ll be almost asleep and get shocked from a particularly powerful kick haha. I love that I know she is safe and doing well in there.
Food Cravings / Aversions
Welp, I’ve become an accidental vegetarian. I don’t know whats up with me these days but meat is not appealing. At all. Them carbs though! Pizza Rolls, Hot Pockets, smoothies and cereal have been my downfall this trimester. I can eat unlimited amounts of these things. I’ve been forcing myself to eat healthy the majority of the time with lots of vegetables. Some days are harder than others.
Sleep
Sweet sweet sleep! I think this has been the roughest part of this pregnancy for me. Your girl needs her sleep haha. I usually have no problem sleeping but with a heavy belly and multiple trips to the bathroom during the night it has been tough for me. It’s hard to get comfortable and OH did I mention the heat? I am ALWAYS hot. Like it’s 30 degrees outside and I’m sleeping without the cover with the window open and still complaining about being hot. It’s crazy! I’m terrified to see what the third trimester will bring. Everyone always says to sleep as much as you can during this time because sleep will be scarce once baby is here but it’s hard! I want to sleep but I just can’t conk out like I used to.Β I’m always joking that she is training me for what is to come!
The Hubby
Khaled has been amazing. I never had any doubts that he would be a good father but seeing how seriously he is working now just proves it even further. He has been doing so many things for me since I was put on modified bed rest without batting an eye. I am so blessed. As soon as we found out it was going to be a girl I knew he was going to be a goner. π I can’t wait to see those sweet, sweet Daddy-daughter moments.
Onto the third trimester! π
