Okay. I think this post is pretty self explanatory. I love when people get innovative with food. When I heard that there was a shop called Antique selling a macaron burger in Hongdae, I knew I had to find it and give it a try. It combines two things I already love: macarons and ice cream. Just the thought of it had me hungry. That is Korea for you… they are always trying something new and stores with creative concepts are opening every day… especially in Hongdae!
I first saw this place on someone’s blog and I’m glad I did because I would have never found it otherwise. It’s not in the main part of Hongdae but a little bit off past the super crowded area that most people hang out at when they are here. So many people just stick to the area right around the subway but you are really missing out by not exploring farther!
Macaron Burger is in a quiet backstreet, and when I showed up there was no one there at all. A blogger’s dream I tell you! I love when I get a place to myself so I can really take it all in, get some nice pictures without the rush and relax while enjoying my food. 😀
As always, this place has super cute decorations. The worker wasn’t actually in the store when I went in and I waited for a few minutes until someone came from outside to take my order. I guess business isn’t that great because although they had a big menu of choices, the guy told me that he only had two. I was really sad because I wanted to try the mango blossom! I went with the real cacao flavor instead and it came out looking really impressive! A huge orange macaron “bun” filled with sweet chocolate ice cream rolled in pistachios. Yum!
The macaron part was a big fail because it was really crunchy and way too sweet for me. But the ice cream rolled in pistachios was great! If the macaron had been soft and chewy it would have been freaking heaven. What a shame! Maybe that’s why they aren’t getting that much business?
A+ for the idea but they really need to fix that macaron. If you want to try something unique, give the Antique Macaron Burger in Hongdae a try. If anything, it will look very impressive when you take your food selfie. Just keeping it real here. 😉
How to Get to Macaron Burger:
Take the subway to Hongik University station, green line . Go out of exit 8 and walk up to the main street. Turn left and walk down the second side street on your right. Walk straight down this road and turn down the 3rd side street on your right.
