Saying that I love ice cream is like saying that the sky is blue. I love the stuff. It’s such a cliche, but there is nothing better than eating some really good ice cream. It’s my guilty pleasure. I love trying new flavors, and I love whenever there are brand new ones that I’ve never heard of. I remember when Coldstone first came to town years ago and I was so excited that they actually mixed in ingredients right at the table! Ever since then I’ve been obsessed.
A lot of people only eat ice cream in the summer, but I love it in the winter too. I have a theory that ice cream tastes better in the winter because you can actually taste the flavor instead of enjoying something cold when it’s hot. I’m serious about my ice cream! 😉
Fell+Cole is a hidden gem in the Hongdae area and if you are looking for unique ice cream combinations, you have come to the right place. Fell+Cole is named after an intersection in California, where the owner got his inspiration to open the ice cream shop.
His ice cream creations are out of this world. Burnt Caramel with Smoked Sea Salt, Balsamic Strawberry, Lebanese Rosewater, and Lemon Lavendar are some of the amazing combos that you can find there. If new combinations aren’t your thing, he still has a few more normal combinations like Just Boring Vanilla or Chocolate Peanut Butter. 😉
There are even some traditional Korean combinations like Makgeolli (a rice wine), Grandma’s Persimmon, and Darth Vader (black sesame).
This place is easy to miss. It’s very close to Sangsu station, but it’s down a small side street so it can be a little confusing to find. It’s nestled on a small backstreet that is really quiet and empty. I literally saw two people walk by during the thirty minutes I was there. I don’t think many people would find Fell+Cole unless they knew about it beforehand, it’s so secluded! That is such a shame, because this ice cream tastes so good. Even better, they only use natural ingredients and make it in small batches so it’s always fresh. You can’t get better than that!
I got the Lebanese Rosewater with cranberries and it was the bomb diggity. It was really hard to choose but I’m a big fan of rosewater and this didn’t disappoint. Next time I have my eye on the Burnt Caramel with Smoked Sea Salt flavor. 😀
Oh, and I heard that this place is a hot spot for a few Korean celebrities who have been spotted grabbing some ice cream here. So, who knows? Maybe you can bump into someone famous while getting your ice cream fix!
Q: What is the most interesting flavor of ice cream you’ve tried?
To visit Fell+Cole, take the subway to Sangsu station and exit from Exit 1. Walk straight to the first street out of the exit and turn left down that street. Turn left again at the first side street. It’s very tiny and winds around but don’t worry it’s the one! After a few minutes walking down it you will find Fell+Cole on your left.
