I know, right? A chocolate fashion show? That has to be amazing! When I went to Salon du Chocolat in Seoul, there was an exhibit showing outfits made with chocolate that were stunning! Some of them were really intricate and it was amazing to see how each person used the chocolate in their design. When I saw that they were actually going to have models wear the chocolate on the stage I couldn’t believe it! I ended up staying until the end of the event just to check it out.
The show was really fun, and you could tell that the models were really enjoying themselves too. They started out with two girls doing a pretty raunchy (in my opinion) dance which ended in a model busting out of a gift box. Instead of just walking down the stage and showing off their outfit, the DJ played fun music and the models each had their own little dances that they did. Some of them even had baskets of chocolate that they threw to the crowd who were excited for some free chocolate as you can imagine! 😉
One of the models accidentally threw a chocolate to a child and the chocolate slipped off the stick. The kid actually picked up the stick and threw it at her! Rude. :/ The models were very chill though, and most of them tried to go to all sides of the stage and do some posing for the cameras. I definitely appreciated that, since I wasn’t in the best location. It was so crowded when I arrived!
All of the outfits were unique, but my favorite was the hanbok inspired dress. I can’t remember which chocolate maker did each dress since I was busy snapping pictures, but the hanbok made out of chocolate was so unique. It was also the outfit that used chocolate in the most interesting way in my opinion. I loved the drizzle effect! The peacock dress was also stunning, but it actually took me a minute to figure out if it even had chocolate in it. The peacock feathers are just too visually stunning, so I didn’t notice the chocolate disks dotted throughout.
I was so caught up in the clothing that I didn’t really notice their shoes until the very end of the show when they were all standing on the stage together. Some models even had delicate chocolate flowers attached to their heels! Since I got to inspect what they were wearing up close, I noticed a lot of chocolate smears happening. That’s what you get when you wear chocolate I guess! 😉
When it was time for the ‘rocker girl’ model, they actually had a rapper come out and perform while she modeled her outfit. I wasn’t really a fan of that part… something about a chocolate lover and he cussed a bit too. Since Salon du Chocolat is a family event, I was a little uncomfortable. Actually, the model even looked a little uncomfortable too.
They finished the show with the last model playing an awesome song on the violin as each of the models came back out on the stage. She played really beautifully and I really enjoyed it! There was a lot of smoke and bubbles too. I got a chance to get some close up pictures which was great since there were so many kids messing around near the stage during the actual event. It was really frustrating! Even the presenter looked annoyed throughout the show because they kept trying to climb on the stage and slap the bubbles.
Overall, the chocolate fashion show was a really fun event and I’m glad I stayed! I can’t wait to see what they will come up with next year. ^^
