Recently, I signed up to become a BzzAgent. What exactly is a BzzAgent? It is basically a word of mouth marketing company that connects brands with interested consumers to sample and review their products. If your profile interests match a product working with BzzAgent, you may be selected to receive the product and give your opinion on it through several social networking avenues such as Twitter, Facebook, blogging and interacting with people around you who may be interested.
Best of all, it is free! If you give more feedback, you are more likely to receive invitations to join product campaigns. You can also receive MyPoints for certain activities on BzzAgent, which you can accumulate to redeem for things like giftcards! Of course, reviewing products is risk free and honest opinions are wanted.
This month, I am participating in the BIC Soleil Savvy campaign. I was pretty excited because hair removal is something I definitely deal with, as most women do. I currently use cheap disposables but I constantly feel guilty about all of the waste! I considered switching to an electric razor or a razor with disposable blades. When I saw this razor, I was excited to try one out! Another thing that I liked about this razor is that it isn’t as expensive as I thought it would be! I found these at my Dollar General for a whopping five dollars… with the current coupon that would bring the total down to two dollars. Not bad at all! Also, I’m a total packaging girl so I loved the look of this razor. Pink and glittery, totally me!
As with all items, there is usually a negative. The one thing that I don’t like about this razor is that it is impossible to buy just the replacement blades themselves. When you need a new blade, you will have to buy the whole set all over again with the handle even though it is perfectly fine to use. That is still wasteful to me, even though it is less wasteful than cheap disposables. It just doesn’t seem that big of a deal to sell just the refills. Their advertising says “Savvy ladies say no to pricy refills.” That may be true, but I say sell refills that are reasonably priced instead of wasting the handle! That part of their campaign did not really make sense to me.
This razor has great, accessible features. I don’t know if it is just me, but I struggle getting razor heads out of their plastic case packaging. Of course, struggling with something that has blades on it isn’t a good idea! I was happy that the BIC Soleil Savvy razor just slid out from the side so easily. The blades are easily replaced by pressing the white button forward to release the old blade. The new blade pops right into place, and is designed to swivel back and forth to fit the shape of your body. A pretty cool feature! The handle is comfortable to hold and each razor head contains three blades with Vitamin E strips for lubrication.
All of that is fine and well, but how does it perform?
This razor is definitely an option if you take advantage of retailers like Dollar General in a combination with coupons. Currently, the set can be found for as little as two dollars!
This razor gave me a semi-close shave with little irritation. Definitely easier to handle than a cheap disposable and the hair comes off easily. It wasn’t the closest shave I have ever gotten, but it wasn’t bad. If you are really looking for a super close shave, this razor might not be for you.
